We've all seen the adverts (I'm paraphrasing a bit here) 'Can't be bothered to brush - chew Wrigley's Extra!'
Does it help? Well, chewing does promote the flow of saliva, so that's a good thing. Is it as good as brushing? Well, no. Is there a down side? Perhaps... constant chewing may accelerate wear on the biting surfaces of the teeth. You might also cause strain on the jaw joint (TMJ).
'Definitive advice please' - It's OK occasionally, but take a toothbrush to work and use that.
