I HAVE BROKEN A FILLING - AGAIN!

Some people exert more force when they bite and chew than others. This means more problems with broken fillings, lost crowns and so on.

Can anything be done? This one is a real headache for dentists, for some the solution is just fillings in stronger, usually metallic materials, for others even the strongest materials fail. Sometimes a gum-shield worn a night makes a difference. For a few there seems no solution.

Unfortunately you don't know, as a youth, that there will be a problem later, but preventing decay is never a bad choice if you can. The usual advice applies of course, and it's a shame that in the UK we don't generally have fluoride in the water.
