Have I got gum disease?

Sadly we ALL have gum disease. The question should be 'How bad is my gum disease?'. It's going to be better if you brush and floss conscientiously, better if you restrict your sugar intake and better if you have the right genetics.

You can't do anything about your genetics[1] (picking the right parents - so important!) but the rest is a choice you make.

The signs of advancing disease are well known - bleeding on brushing or flossing, loosening teeth. Gum recession? - not so much, that is usually a sign of incorrect brushing technique.

[1] If you have near relatives with gum disease being especially careful is common sense. The usual advice applies - oral hygiene and cutting out sugar and a trip to see you-know-who.
